Coach's Corner

Welcome to the Coach's Corner.  This is a resource not just for the coaches but also for the wrestlers. Please read the very recent quotes from Coaches who Know the Raiders Wrestling Program, Trust it, and embrace the key Value of the Developement of Wrestlers.

Joe McGinley, head wrestling coach for Central Bucks West High School notes, “Wrestling is a difficult sport; one person wins and one person loses.  It is the athlete with the soundest basics that usually prevails. The Raiders have always stressed the basics, as opposed to a signature move as seen in other programs.  Raider wrestlers are very well prepared for junior high, and always succeed there.  We at West commend the Raiders and look forward to reaping that bounty for years to come.”

“Youth wrestling is an often overlooked option, but one with many benefits for the body and mind,” said Anthony Tamburrino, a director with the Central Bucks Wrestling Federation.  “It is a great way to provide kids with proper physical conditioning in a fun environment. But, wrestling is unmatched for developing self-confidence. The challenge of taking on an opponent one-on-one builds self-esteem that translates into many other areas of life.”

Craig Deacon, of Central Bucks South also agrees. “As a Wrestling Coach in the Central Bucks School District for the past 12 years, I have first hand knowledge of the Central Bucks Raiders organization. The instruction and coaching these young wrestlers receive has been instrumental in preparing them for the high school level and beyond. The dedication the Raiders organization shows to these boys pays off many times over and is essential for successful high school wrestling programs. My best wrestlers have been Raider Wrestlers,” says Deacon.

The Raiders' philosophy is to teach the kids fundamental wrestling skills so they can feel confident, whether preparing to compete for future spots on junior high or high school teams or looking to improve their fitness and stamina for other sports.  Greg Ness, another CBWF Director, said “We have seen time and again that the Raider program has generated not just accomplished wrestlers, but also confident, well rounded students and successful young men.”
